Story

While out drinking and celebrating their latest victory, a team of bounty hunters is hired to bring in Alex, a young math and encryption genius who disappeared with extremely sensitive corporate data. To prevent him from selling it to competitors, the team is offered $2 million for his immediate return. While too good to be true, the team needs the job and the down payment.

It's an eclectic crew. Ronin, the leader, is a tall Irish boxer type who left behind a life of violence when he accidentally killed his wife. Ever since, Ronin hasn't dealt with his inability to fight, even when necessary to protect others. Samantha, who finds relaxation at the sniper range and contrasts Ronin's cautious nature by solving problems with force. Clarence, the family man who cooks pancakes for his kids before heading to work and cracking heads. Charlie, the young smartass equally comfortable playing Call Of Duty or hacking computer systems. And Nicholas, the dapper older gentlemen who drinks martinis 24/7 and quit his museum curator job to work with his unlikely friend Ronin.

The team finds their target, but soon discover he's not a criminal at all, but a victim on the run for his life. He was hired by Sebastian Cole, a ruthless though charming drug lord to develop a secure communications system. As programmers love to do, the kid left a backdoor into the system for himself and learned too much. Now Ronin's team has just done the legwork for Cole.

The team refuse to hand Alex over to be killed, and find themselves on the run from their own employer. They escape to Ronin's estranged brother Matt, a low level dealer who never left the criminal world that Ronin did. Sam's own history with dealers causes a blowup that breaks the team in half. She leaves, taking Nicholas and Charlie with her.

The backdoor lets Ronin learn of a huge drug shipment Cole has coming in, so he makes a deal with his brother's drug supplier and his military trained gang: help us take care of Cole, and you keep the shipment for yourself.

With half his team still absent, Ronin and the supplier's gang storm the docks where Cole's shipment has arrived. After a bloodbath of gunfire, Ronin gains the upper hand, only to suffer a reversal when Cole's dirty cops arrive. The group is about to be executed, when Ronin's absent team members return, and each use their skills to even the odds.

Samantha kills Cole's men from her sniper perch high on a shipping crane. Cole escapes aboard the cargo ship. Ronin pursues and corners him high atop the ship's deck. Cole explains that if Ronin brings him in, he'll get out soon, and no one Ronin loves will ever be safe.

Realizing Cole is right, Ronin has no choice but to revisit his old self, the man of blood. As Cole is describing what his men will do to Samantha, Ronin shakes off the ghosts of his past and puts a round through Cole's chest.

The team is safe and together again, celebrating their win and the wisdom that sometimes we must do bad things to protect those we love.
